4 tips for a QR code that always scans
A pretty QR code is great. A QR code that works is better. Follow these rules and you are safe.
Keep strong contrast
Use a dark code on a light background. Our checker warns you if your colors are too close or inverted.
Print it big enough
Make it at least 2 x 2 cm (0.8 inch). For posters, a good rule is 1 cm of code for every 10 cm of scanning distance.
Test before you print
Scan the final design with two different phones, in normal light, before you send anything to the printer.
Use High correction with a logo
A logo covers part of the code. High error correction (30%) lets the code stay readable. We switch it on for you.
Where businesses use QR codes
One small square can connect the real world to your website in a second.
Menus and price lists
Link tables or counters to your online menu. Update the page any time without reprinting.
Business cards
Use the Contact type so people save your details instantly, with no typing.
Guest Wi-Fi
Print a Wi-Fi code for your shop, office or rental so guests connect in one scan.
Events and invitations
Add the date, time and place to guests' calendars straight from your flyer or invitation.
Reviews and social media
Send customers to your review page or social profile from receipts, packaging and counters.
WhatsApp and calls
Let customers message or call you from a poster, van or shop window with a single scan.
QR code questions, answered
Plain answers about printing, tracking and scanning.
Are these QR codes free, and do they expire?
Yes, they are free and never expire. These are static QR codes: your information is stored inside the code itself, so they keep working forever and do not depend on our website.
Can I track how many people scan my QR code?
Static QR codes cannot count scans by themselves. The easy fix is to add tracking to the web address you link to (for example UTM parameters) and watch the visits in Google Analytics.
What size should I print my QR code?
At least 2 x 2 cm (about 0.8 inch). For posters and signs use a bigger code: roughly 1 cm of code for every 10 cm of scanning distance.
Which file format should I download?
Use SVG for printing and anything that must stay sharp when enlarged. Use PNG for websites and social media. JPEG and WebP are handy for small file sizes.
Can I add my logo to a QR code?
Yes. Upload your logo in the Logo section. We switch on High error correction automatically so the code still scans, and warn you if the logo is too large.
Why does my QR code not scan?
The most common reasons are low contrast, light code on a dark background, a code printed too small, too much data, or a logo that is too big. Check the green and orange notes under your preview for hints.
Is my information private?
Yes. Your codes are created inside your own browser. The text you enter and the logo you upload are never sent to our servers.
